Recruitment 2017 - deadline fast approaching!

September 25, 2017

The deadline for applications to the SLTN Executive Committee is this Friday, 29th September.

Dr Andrew Frankel, postgraduate dean, says:

‘I believe very strongly that we need to be responsive to the needs of our doctors in postgraduate training. The SLTN executive committee is a valuable group, allowing me to better understand the trainee perspective in my work. Their input to the Confederation of South London Education Providers is always welcomed by the Directors and Managers of Medical Education across south London and the annual trainee conference is a highlight of my year. I encourage you to get involved in the governance of your training programmes by becoming part of the SLTN executive committee’.

The SLTN Executive Committee is a group of 8-10 trainees representing around 3,500 junior doctors across 82 specialities in the South London deanery.

We work closely with and have the support of the postgraduate dean to:

  • Organise a free conference for all South London trainees each spring (have a look at our video below for an overview of this year's 'Inspiring Excellence' conference).

  • Support trainee-representatives, including organising a trainee-representative event each winter - recent topics have included the Shape of Training Review, and the Guardian role under the 2016 contract.

  • Represent the trainee voice at Confederation of South London Education Providers (COSL) board meetings - and provide a channel of communication between Health Education South London and the wider trainee body.

With major changes occurring - from the Shape of Training Review, to a reform of the ARCP process, and the centralisation of study-budgets, it is an exciting time to be involved with postgraduate medical education.

We are looking for trainee-reps with an interest in postgraduate medical training to apply to the executive committee. Interviews will be held in the third week of October.

If you are interested in applying, please email contactus@sltn.london by Friday 29th September with:
